DNA=Your Future

 Recently I read an article that said, “For $1,000, you can have your dna scanned and your genome mapped.” After this “mapping” you would be able to see the % risks you have of developing certain diseases, etc. and perhaps even a persons ability to excel in certain areas such as athletics or music. The downside is that you may find out that certain things, like heart disease, are near impossible for you to escape and for every second that passes you will be wondering when your time is.

On top of that, what if you choose not to act on the information you receive? What if you find out you have a 30% chance of having a heart attack in the next 5 years but do not diet and exercise appropriately? Can a person seriously feel guilt for putting themselves in that position considering last year the lay person did not even know this mapping was available to the public?

Any thoughts? Click the image to check out a company that is currently doing this…

  1. Just saw a really interesting piece on this on 20/20. Apparently if your father’s father’s father’s father on your father’s side was Japanese and your mother’s mother’s mother’s mother on your mother’s side was Peruvian and all the other ancestors were Swedish, only the Japanese and Peruvian would come out in the test.
